Our Nottinghamshire Racing Syndicate

Nottinghamshire Racing is one of our locally based and run syndicates and currently has three horses in training:

Dolphin Village

Dolphin Village is a bay gelding by Cape Cross (sire of Derby winners Golden Horn and Sea the Stars and Oaks winner Ouija Board) out of Reform Act (by Lemon Drop Kid). He is a compact and cheeky fellow who runs over middle distances on the flat (1m 2f – 1m 4f). He delivered our first winner of 2019 in February.

Dolphin (Phil) came to us from Newmarket Sales in February 2017 and was probably handicapped too highly but this did enable him to run at courses like Newmarket and York . We have now got his handicap down to a more reasonable level. Dolphin seems to have his own course preferences!

Son of Beauty

Son of Beauty is a 3year old bay gelding by Vocalist out of Sunset Beauty. (by Whipper). He has a lot of American breeding in his pedigree including Seattle Slew, Mr Prospector and Bluebird. He is a compact fellow who came to us from Newmarket Sales in July 2019 having previously raced in Ireland and made his mark about ten minutes after unloading by  carrying out some nifty moves to escape his paddock! Since then he has settled down well.

Ali Star Bert

Bert is a 3 year old bay gelding and a full brother to Rob's Legacy (Percy) who also ran in the Notts Racing colours. He is by Phoenix Reach out of Clumber Pursuits and he is field mates with Son of Beauty. Bert is coming along nicely. Bert is another of our characters, he contorts himself into all sorts of positions in the field to get "greener grass on the other side".

Roy’s Legacy (The legend that is Tommy) retired in April 2019

Bred by Andrew Christou of Winterbeck Manor Stud Tommy is by Phoenix Reach out of the mare Chocolada.

Tommy  won 21 times and all with us, we are still trying to find out if this is a record. Of his wins 5 were on the turf, with the remainder (16) on the all weather. Extending the statistics above in fact Tommy has won on over 20% of his all weather starts and been 1st, 2nd or 3rd on the all weather on 49.3% of his runs!

Tommy is a tv star having appeared in the BBC’s “A1: the longest road” in 2017 and has also appeared on the cover of some racecards. He is now enjoying a cossetted retirement in Ireland, where he has settled in well. We miss him a lot as he is such a character.
